Il genere Roguelike, negli ultimi anni, è stato al centro di una clamorosa rinascita, che ha portato a un numero abbacinante di titoli. Tra questi troviamo piccole perle del gaming, come The Binding of Isaac (https://www.playstationbit.com/psvita/the-binding-of-isaac-rebirth-recensione) (forse il precursore di questa “moda” videoludica), Spelunky (https://www.playstationbit.com/ps3/spelunky-arrivera-anche-su-ps4), Enter the Gungeon (https://www.playstationbit.com/primo-piano/recensioni/enter-the-gungeon-recensione) e molti altri, alternati a titoli di valore più mediocre. Due aspetti sembrano unire questi titoli, dando quindi un’identità ben precisa al genere stesso: il caso e la difficoltà. I roguelike si dimostrano giochi tosti, senza fronzoli e, soprattutto, in grado di generare sessioni sempre diverse l’una dall’altra, grazie alla generazione procedurali dei livelli e grazie a un numero, solitamente elevato, di oggetti attivi e passivi, anch’essi donati al giocatore randomicamente. Lost Castle è un roguelike con ambientazione fantasy; potremo considerarlo una delle piccole perle di questo genere così hardcore e atipico?
